Measurement rims for the collection of load spectra and tyre parameters

A state of the art heavy agricultural tractor (Fendt 936, 265 kW, 10360 kg, 70 km/h) was extensively equipped with instrumentation together with partners from industry (Goodyear S.A., AGCO GmbH and Kistler IGeL GmbH). Focus of the investigations are the modular force measuring rims. Their central measuring unit is replaceable and can be used for industrial purposes. Additionally, this measuring unit allows the use of wheel ballasting and twin tyres.

Besides the recording of total vehicle load spectra, an intensive testing of the Goodyear Optitrac R+ tyres with dimensions 650/65 R34 and 710/75 R42 was of interest. Another focus was set on the development of an alternative method for the parameter identification for tyre models for driving dynamics simulations since very large tyres can not be parameterised on the test stands available.
